The Farewell Tour

The Final Stop that is often forgotten

Dwight Evans

Dwight Evans had a near Hall of Fame career playing for the Red Sox for 19 seasons. With near 70 WAR, some would say he should be in Cooperstown. Few remember his brief time in Baltimore at age 39. I heard he wanted to play one more year but it wasn't meant to be.

Jimmy Wynn

The Toy Cannon had one of the best nickname of his era. He was a force to be reckoned with for the Astros, Braves & Dodgers. But by the time he reached Milwaukee, he was done. His Farewell Tour is often forgotten, but not by me!

Darrell Evans

A member of the famed "Atlanta Trio" in 1973, Evans' Farewell Tour was a return to the team where he had his most success, the Braves. He barely hit .200 and as his best days were definitely behind him. But playing at age 42 is pretty impressive either way!

Graig Nettles

Many think Graig Nettles should be in the HOF. I believe his low batting average says otherwise. Either way, who remembers his Farewell Tour with the 1988 Expos. It didn't go well as he hit .172 in 80 games as mainly a pinch hitter.

Don Baylor

Aside from his alleged affair with Maury Wills's wife, Baylor had a monster career with many teams, including playing in three consecutive World Series from 1986 to 1988. His Farewell Tour was with Jose Canseco & Mark McGwire for the 1988 A's.

Joe Morgan

It should really read "Hall of Famer" Joe Morgan as I've heard he will come back from the dead & haunt you if you don't use that prefix. His Farewell Tour was a forgettable season with the Oakland A's. Few people remember that.
