Like Betty White, I never thought Bob Uecker would ever leave us. But alas, he passed away in 2025. The man was a true legend that I could go on and one about. But we keep things somewhat short here so I'll just go over some memories I have about Ueck.
I was too young for his not so great playing career but old enough to see him in the many beer ads he appeared in. "I must be in the front row!" You can see are not old enough to remember his Miller Lite Commercial.
I've heard so many quotes (jokes) from him about his playing career. I'll just share one, but there are so many. His self-deprecating humor was classic. "I hit .200 -- if you added my two best years together." Classic!
I remember him from Mr. Belvedere. I didn't watch it too often, but when I did, he made me laugh. The "Gilligan's Island" episode was the best. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out.
Let's not forget him playing Harry Doyle in the "Major League" movies. He was such a talented entertainer. So much better of an actor than a major leaguer!
Ueck left us in January of 2025 at age 90. He is missed by all and especially by me. For that reason, he'll always be a Baseball Card Memory. Rest in Peace Bob Uecker!
