Rest In Peace Dave Giusti

Our first loss of 2026 is former Pittsburgh Pirates hurler Dave Giusti. Giusti had a 15 year career that started with the Colt 45s in Houston and ended with a brief stint in Chicago with the Cubs.

I was young when he was pitching, mainly for the Pirates, but I remember his baseball cards very well. This was the time when players made fake poses in spring training. Guisti wasn't pitching in his 1976 Topps baseball card, he was just posing.

I'm guessing he was probably forgotten in most baseball circles as he pitched nearly 50 years ago, but his seven years in Pittsburgh were quite memorable. After having started most of his time in Houston, Giusti became a solid reliever who went 47-28 with a 2.94 ERA in 410 games. Definitely a solid time in Pittsburgh.

Although I don't remember watching him play, I certainly remember this baseball cards. And for that reason, he will always be a baseball card memory. Rest in Peace, Dave Giusti.
