Rest In Peace Gary Gray

We continue to honor former major leaguers who passed in 2025 with former Rangers, Indians & Mariners infielder, Gary Gray. What a name he had. Change two letters and he has the same first and last name. That is what I remember about him from his playing days!

I only knew him from his baseball cards so in the early 80s, I wasn't aware that he was pretty much a replacement level player who had two years of as a part time starter with the Mariners after brief stints in Texas and Cleveland. In his parts of six years in the big leagues, Gray had 663 at bats and hit .240 with 24 HR and 71 RBI. Not bad if you think about it.

One thing I found pretty cool was he was traded from Cleveland to Texas before the start of the 1980 season in the David Clyde deal. The Rangers finally gave Clyde one more shot but he wasn't able to make the team. And for that reason alone, Gary Gray is a baseball card memory. Rest in Peace, Gary!
