Rest In Peace Jeff Bittiger

We continue remember players that we lost in 2025 with a pitcher who had a bried stay in the major legues who most of you probably do not remember, Jeff Bittiger.
Bittiger had less than 100 innings pitched in four seasons with the Phillies, Twins and White Sox. Even though I was a Phillies fan and in the area in 1986, I don't remember his brief stay there. What I remember is a buddy from college in 1987-1988 knew him and always talked about him. I don't remember the connection anymore as it was a long time ago, but I remember being impressed that he knew a major leaguer.
Though his career was short, Bittiger appeared in 33 games & made 12 starts in the big leagues. Not too shabby if you ask me. We remember him in his Vancouver Candians jersey only because he didn't have a card as a member of the Phillies. So why not remember him where he spent most of his career, in the minors.
Few realize that a 40 year old Jeff Bittger was pitching for Fargo-Moorhead in the Independent League. Now that's a man that enjoyed playing baseball. His last professional season was 1995 playing for the Edmonton Trappers in the Oakland A's organization.
Although I don't remember much about the playing career of Jeff Bittiger, I do remember my buddy talking about him a lot. And for that reason, he is a Baseball Card Memory! Rest in Peace, Jeff!
