Sometimes a player that made little impact in the major leagues seems to stick in your head. A perfect example of this was former Giants & White Sox backup catcher, Marc Hill. We are honoring Hill as he is one of many former major leaguers who passed away in 2025.
I remember him well from his baseball cards from the 1970s especially. He was a back for the Giants for six years and was featured on a rookie baseball card with Hall of Famer Gary Carter. Hill would hit .223 in parts of 14 seasons in the big leagues and seemed to have a baseball card each year.
In 1980, the Mariner purchased him from the Giants and in 1981, he made his only appearance as a Mariner on a Topps baseball card. He would finish the 1980 season in Seattle and then spend six seasons as a White Sox backup.
Although never a superstar, I clearly remember Marc Hill through his baseball cards for more than a decade. This definitely makes him a Baseball Card Memory. Rest in Peace, Marc!
