Rest In Peace Marshall Edwards

I was a diehard Milwaukee Brewers fan from the mid 1970s to the mid 1990s. Being that they were in the American League and the Phillies were in the National League, I felt it was okay to be a fan of both teams.
In 1982, the Brewers made the World Series. It was a dream come true! One of the players on that 1982 American League Championship Team was Marshall Edwards. He didn't hit for power like Gorman Thomas and he didn't hit for average like Paul Molitor, but he filled a role playing all three outfield positions when the need arose.
What I didn't realize is Edwards was originally signed by the Orioles but lost to the Brewers in the Rule V Draft all the way back in 1976. He worked his way up slowly until he got the call in 1981 and would spend parts of three seasons with the Brewers.
Hearing of his passing is just another part of my childhood being lost forever. It doesn't get any easier as I get older. Rest in Peace, Marshall Edwards as you will always be a Baseball Card Memory to me!
