Rest in Peace Rich Rollins

Another player we lost this year was former Twins, Pilots, Brewers & Indians infielder Rich Rollins. Rollins spent the better part of the 60s as a Twins' infielder and put together a pretty nice career. Playing mostly 3rd base as a starter, he also played many other positions as needed to prolong his career.

Originally drafted by the Senators, Rollins made his debut after the team moved to Minnesota. He would spend parts of eight seasons there before being drafted by the expansion Seattle Pilots as the 26th pick in the expansion draft. He would struggle in Seattle but would stay with the team as they moved to Milwaukee. Part way through the next season, he would be released and end his career with the Indians.

Of course I was too young to see Rich Rollins play. But I discovered him while I was putting together every Brewer/Pilots player to appear on a Topps baseball card from 1969 through 1993. That is why he will always be a Baseball Card Memory! Rest in Peace, Rich!
